The Right Place

After many, many years I have finally figured out how to get back on to my account. I am finding that I am not real good at keeping up on these kinds of things but would like to try again.
I realize that most have stopped following this blog because of inactivity. In the next little while I would like to update you on what has been going on in our lives.

So, what do the numbers 911 and a birthday have in common?

Well, let me tell you. Our youngest daughter had her 13th birthday last Saturday. All she wanted was to take her friends down the Logan canal and to eat birthday cake and ice cream. (Thanks for small miracles--it could have been a whole lot worse!) Things were going well until we started pulling the girls from the stream in a semi hypothermic state. Once we started counting, we were missing two youths!! How could this be and where could they have gone. Middle Son and Middle Daughter walked up and down the banks interrogating all canal floaters-to no avail. Mom freaked! There was a police parked by Lundstrom Park so she went and did what any good mom would do. The sirens wailed and wailed. An Ambulance, Fire truck, Paramedic, 5 police cars and 2 motorcycle cops came rolling in. They asked me if I called 911--Oh no, I said. There were so many cars, trucks etc. a person couldn't even turn around. As the officers were being filled in on the details by my frantic wife, the 2 girls crawled out of the canal, laughing and having a great time. Apparently, they had gotten out by the golf coarse and went to the bathroom. They then waited a few minutes so they could get behind everyone. They wanted to sneak up on them and scare them. Well as one of the firemen put it, they sure did scare everyone!

It will definatly be a birthday that won't be soon forgotten!

Later that same evening, Oldest Daughter competed and stole the show for Miss Nibley. She will reign for one year at all Nibley functions and maybe compete in the Miss Utah Pageant. Who would ever have thought? I have always known she is beautiful and talented, but I never thought a pageant was going to be part of our lives.
I am always amazed at the talents, gifts and abilities of all my kids. It is truly humbling.

I can't believe my little girl is graduated! I think she is feeling pretty good about the whole thing though. She has two jobs and is trying to take advantage of every opportunity that comes her way this summer. She is also trying to save a couple pennies for school and housing this fall. She really wants to move to campus. We think it will be good for her.

Zach and I just got back from an aaronic priesthood encampment the Stake put on. We had seven boys from our Ward that went and it was really great. The thing I really liked was how excited all the boys were about missions when we got home. It was fun to be with Zach.

Christian was ordained an elder last Sunday. It looks like he is always getting closer to that goal of his to fill a mission. He is saying that he would like to be out this fall. That will be great!

The summer seems to be flying by! I'm not getting everything done in the yard I want. I've got an appointment with an old landscaping friend to come over tonight to see if I can afford his help with a backhoe. I really want to get the grading work done so then I can make all my beds permanent.

As you can see, the iris were great this year! The peonies are finally starting to get some size to their blooms. And the day lilies are really spiking right now. The yard has been in continual bloom since the first daffy! It has been great. If it works out with my friend tonight, maybe we can start on our pond and stream! I can hardly wait.

How Does this thing work?

Swansong--because my life has been a song ever since my little cygnet has come into my life, not because oflack of health:)

So, photos would be great! --but how do I do it? I have been searching and don't see how it is done. I know this may be way elementary, but you know me.

I have to go teach right now but will be back later.

Yes, you have come to the right place! The right place for what you may be asking yourself? Well, you will have to wait and see. I will probably even surprise myself!!!!

Welcome to my blog! I hope you enjoy yourself and leave me some tasty tidbits to ruminate on.

I don't have a ton of time right now for a long post, but I did want to impress one younger brother with my computer prowess and blogetiquette. I'm looking forward to tips and help on how to make my blog "the right place" for fun info.

Be back soon.
